Programs of Study

The Kent State College of Business Administration prepares future business leaders by offering a robust business education to students at all stages of their academic careers. The college offers 10 undergraduate majors, which include accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, business management, computer information systems, general business, human resource management, marketing and managerial marketing. In addition, the College offers 14 minors, a Professional Sales Certificate program, numerous master’s degrees and a comprehensive Ph.D. program. In Fall 2021, the College will begin offering guaranteed admission to its MBA program to qualifying, incoming first-year and transfer students entering into business programs. Kent State is the first university in Ohio to initiate this program by offering students a direct path from their undergraduate studies to the university’s nationally recognized MBA program.

Accreditation and Rankings

The Kent State University College of Business Administration holds dual accreditation in business and accounting from AACSB, which assures program and faculty quality. The College is ranked among the top business schools in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 Best Undergraduate Business Programs rankings and is ranked as one of the nation's most outstanding business schools, according to The Princeton Review. The College is recognized by the Sales Education Foundation as a top university for professional sales education and is committed to sustainability as an Advanced Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) signatory. The accounting program is endorsed by the Institute of Management Accountants and the finance program curriculum is aligned with the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute.

Real-World Experience

Kent State business students have numerous opportunities to get involved in activities related to their major and expand their academic experience outside of the classroom. Students can participate in 19 professional business student organizations and honor societies or choose to study abroad at more than 130 destinations around the world. Annual CEBidea and CEBIpitch competitions allow students to pitch their business or business idea for thousands in cash prizes while receiving valuable mentorship and feedback. The Golden Flash Asset Management Group provides students the opportunity to manage $1 million in Kent State University assets as they advance career opportunities in finance. The Pi Sigma Epsilon professional sales fraternity provides students with practical business experience through sales projects, marketing and community service projects as well as an opportunity to compete in regional and national sales competitions.

Career Readiness

The College’s curriculum prepares all business students to be career-ready with two required professional development courses. A designated Career Services Office in the business college is staffed by career advisors who work with students in all stages of their academic journey, hosting numerous recruiting and career development events throughout the year. Students can attend job fairs, such as Career Fair and Interview Day, Sales Fair, Meet the Accountants Night and the IT Meet and Greet event, to network with employers and learn more about job and internship opportunities. Events, such as etiquette dinners and career preparation workshops, held throughout the academic year provide additional opportunities for students to prepare for their future careers.
