TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AS A STUDENT AT KENT STATE!
I am a sophomore majoring in finance with minors in economics and business. My experience here at Kent State has been more than I could have asked for. I came here not knowing many people but it was not hard to make some friends. I of course talked to people in my classes. I personally think that is a great way to make friends. You will likely see them at least twice a week, if not more in class. I absolutely love my friends. I met my best friends from just speaking to them in class. Having them with me made my experience so much better. The athletic events also really made my experience here at Kent so much better. I love supporting Kent State. It is always so much fun and the athletic events always make feel better if I am not in the best mood. I am so happy with my decision of Kent State.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE KENT STATE?
I chose Kent State for multiple reasons. One, it was not too far from home. It is only about an hour and twenty minutes. So, it is far enough from home but not insanely far. With this I am able to go home every two weekends. I love this because I love to see my dog. Second, I really liked the price. Kent State has a tuition that I can afford. This was a big thing for me. Finally, I really liked the fact that freshmen can have their cars on campus. This was something I noticed at multiple universities that was not common. So the fact that Kent State allows it really did have a big impact on that.
WHEN DID KENT STATE START TO FEEL LIKE HOME?
Kent State started feeling like home to me when I started to involve myself a little more and meet my best friends. I think the best ways to find your community are to put yourself out there. Don't be shy. Just talk to people.
WHAT'S A COOL LEARNING EXPERIENCE YOU'VE HAD?
Something that I think is a unique experience is that I was able to change my major from fashion merchandising to finance. I am still able to graduate at the same time that I would have even if I did not change my major.
WHO HAS MADE YOUR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE SPECIAL?
C. Lockwood Reynolds. He is a Professor in the Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship. He was my professor for microeconomics. He is my favorite professor. He was the reason I had changed my major. He is the best professor and he really knows what he is talking about.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY?
My favorite memory from Kent State are the basketball games. I absolutely love them and they always get me so hype. I love the free merchandise that they give out at the beginning of the game. Being on dance cam is my favorite memory. I love being on the Jumbotron and being so hype and dancing.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS, POST-GRADUATION?
My career goals are to work in corporate finance, maybe someday being someone's financial planner. Corporate finance is my first goal. Kent State is preparing me for this by having many different opportunities to connect with people in the workforce today.
WHY SHOULD OTHER STUDENTS CHOOSE KENT STATE?
Everyone is so kind and welcoming. You are able to say "hi" to someone randomly and they always say something back. I have never ran into someone that did not respond to me. I love that about Kent.
