Congratulations on making it to 2021! Does anyone else feel like they’ve reached a new level in life? This past year was an interesting journey with many “firsts” for everyone.
As the new year begins, you may run into students who are panicking because they haven’t completed a college application or filed the FAFSA yet. Believe me when I say, “I understand!” There have been so many twists and turns over the past year that, sometimes, the future may have been the last thing on their mind. Thankfully, there’s still time to become a Golden Flash!
Here are five application tips for your Future Flashes:
- We’ve extended our application fee waiver, so now is the perfect time to apply!
- Feb. 1, 2021, is our final merit scholarship deadline, so be sure to apply soon.
- We are test-optional! If your students haven’t taken the ACT or SAT, or don’t think their scores are a good representation of their academic ability, they can apply without them. There are alternative pathways for selective major programs, scholarships and the Honors College.
- Essays are not required! However, if a student wants to share more about their academic ability, important extracurricular activities, or ups and downs in their academic history, we want to know about it.
- Be sure to check your email. We send email notifications about your application status and your next steps with us at Kent State. Admission decision letters are also mailed.
We may have to use different ways to connect nowadays, but creating a relationship with you and your students is of the utmost importance to us. We know Golden Flashes go on to do great things, and we thank you for the part you play in their journey!
