Welcome to Kent State!

Dear Parents and Families of Future Flashes,

As the President of Kent State, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on the admission of your student to our university. Welcome to the family!

At Kent State, students receive an affordable, world-class education, and we are with them every step of the way – from the first day of freshman year until they cross the stage at graduation.

Our award-winning, nationally recognized student support programs are proven to move students to completion of their degrees. We saw a record high graduation rate this past year due to their efforts. We are proud to boast that 87% of our graduates are employed or seeking a higher degree within a year of graduation. Kent State graduates are leaders and innovators in their fields and are prepared for a lifetime of contributing to the good of society.

To help meet the financial needs of our students and their families, Kent State provides more than $405 million in financial support each year. Over the past two years, the university has greatly increased need-based aid to help with the financial difficulties so many of our students and their families are facing due to the pandemic’s impact on the economy. One new program is the Flashes Go Further scholarship, which is a massive, first-of-its-kind student aid program designed to help students cover unmet needs for tuition, fees and books while also helping to ensure they get to graduation and even to graduate school. Kent State also offers a four-year tuition guarantee so that costs are locked in for four years to allow for easier educational planning and to eliminate any financial surprises that would block the path to a degree.

To keep our families engaged during this critical time of college planning, we are excited to introduce you to Kent State’s Future Flashes Parents and Families E-newsletter, which will provide pertinent information about Kent State and keep you up-to-date on what you need to know as your student progresses through the admissions process, including details on financial aid, housing, orientation and important deadlines as they arise.

We are committed to supporting our students and making sure they succeed at Kent State. We are excited to welcome your student into our Fall 2022 freshman class.

I wish you all the best as you continue through the Kent State admissions process and am confident our Future Flashes Parents and Families E-newsletter will provide you with the information and guidance you need for seamless and successful planning until your student joins us in the fall.

Sincerely,

Todd Diacon
President
