WHY DID YOU CHOOSE KENT STATE?

I chose Kent State because when I took my first tour I liked how lively the campus felt and I was excited about being away from home, but not so far that I can't go back often. I liked how many options there are for majors and minors and that the classes weren't all giant lectures, so you could make more personal connections with your professors.

I also love the size of the school; there are enough students where you can meet someone new every day but also not so many that you're getting lost in the sea of people!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AS A STUDENT AT KENT STATE!

My experience at Kent State has been very welcoming. I have had numerous opportunities for growth, to learn new things and meet different people from all walks of life. My older sister also was at Kent when I started and she made sure I was connected with the best people and knew about events and opportunities I'd be interested in as soon as I got to campus. I participated in the Renaissance Ball my sophomore year, which was my first semester on campus, and I was crowned Princess. It was such a great way to get involved, find my community and went a long way in helping me find my place here at Kent.

I've been very fortunate to have supportive counselors and mentors who have helped me develop my academic and personal goals, as well as helped me to discover career paths I'd be most passionate in.

A POPULAR SLOGAN AT KENT STATE IS "YOU BELONG HERE." WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU?

The slogan "You Belong Here" means that at Kent, you'll find a home away from home. I'm about 5 hours away from home, but I was still able to find things that made me feel at home and reinforced I made a good decision going to school a little farther away. At Kent, I've found lifelong friends that are like family and found a community that encourages me to be the best version of myself.

HOW DID FINANCIAL AID IMPACT YOUR DECISION TO ATTEND KENT STATE?

Financial aid had a major impact on my decision to come to Kent State because I'm an out-of-state student! One of the biggest things you have to think about when going to school is the cost of attendance. I was fortunate enough to earn scholarships from Kent, and they significantly helped to reduce my cost of attendance.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS, POST-GRADUATION?

My post-grad goals are to find a company where I can put my communications and marketing skills to good use, potentially as a social media specialist. I'd also love to explore working with children who are non-verbal and help them develop their communication skills.
