Don't Worry. Joining is Easy!
Be admitted to a College of Communication and Information school (School of Communication Studies, School of Emerging Media and Technology, School of Media and Journalism, School of Information and School of Visual Communication Design).
Apply for housing (applications open in early February).
Select 'CCI Commons' as your living-learning community and Olson Hall as your #1 choice.
The earlier you apply for your residence hall, the more likely it is that you will receive a CCI Commons' assignment.
Because space is limited, your best chance of being placed in Olson Hall is if you do not select a roommate. University Housing will place you with a roommate. If you want to pair yourself with a roommate you must make sure that that person has selected to live in the CCI Commons in Olson Hall. If you request a roommate who is not a CCI major, University Housing will grant your roommate request over your hall preference. In other words, you'll be assigned to live elsewhere on campus, and you will not be able to participate in our community.
We know it's a stressful time, and you want to be in charge of your roommate selection, but we've been doing this long enough to know that 'random' pairings often work out just as well as someone you find on Facebook.
