What were some highlights of your first year? Were there offices or specific individuals that helped you during your transition?
My freshman year at Kent has been fulfilled with exciting events! To start off, I experienced the Kupita/Transiciones program a week before classes started which was filled with a lot of fun. I eventually tried out for the Legacy Dance Team on campus and made it! Assistant Director, Mike Daniels, forwarded me information to apply for the Freshman Advisory Council and I obtained the position of being President. I was also able to able to participate as a contestant in Black United Students 49th Annual Renaissance Ball. I volunteered in helping putting together Black United Students 4th Annual Love Lottery. Most recently, I attended the Kent African Student Association's African Night! There are multiple people that have helped shaped my first year to be as exciting as it is, but specific shout out to the Student Multicultural Center, Black United Students, and the Center for Undergraduate Excellence. The people within these offices and communities have led me to meet and build relationships with so many people, pushed me to utilize my resources here on campus and branch out by getting involved!
