What were some highlights of your first year? Were there offices or specific individuals that helped you during your transition?
My first year at Kent State was a great year. At the beginning of the year, I slowly started to form some friends by bonding over the many different activities Kent offered during KSU Kickoff. I specifically remember free ice cream at the Hillel where we had a good time. Throughout the year, I enjoyed studying with friends and hanging out. We had a lot of late night Rosie's Diner runs during our study sessions. Whenever I was stressed or felt the pressure of college caving in, I always turned to my friends, office hours with professors, and my advisors. Specifically, Vince Giles, a College of Communication and Information advisor got me right on track during my required advising. Now I go to him for every appointment. Joan Inderhees who was my Intro to Typography professor, also helped me immensely when I felt helpless in her class. The many resources and friends at Kent State made my first year a great success.
