Yes, The DKS New Student orientation program is a required orientation program for all incoming first-year students, regardless if you are living on or off campus. At Kent State, we believe in giving students the tools they need to succeed – this starts at orientation.
Yes. Any student who took advantage of the opportunity to earn college credit in high school, (i.e. College Credit Plus, Advanced Placement, CLEP or International Baccalaureate exams) regardless of the number of hours transferred to Kent State, is required to complete the New Student Orientation program.
Don’t forget to submit your unofficial transcripts or test scores prior to your orientation date.
During DKS, students and registered guests will attend a variety of orientation-related programming centered on crucial topics: financial aid, housing, commuting, health and safety, and academic advising prep. During this fully immersive Kent State experience, students will eat in our dining halls, have the opportunity to begin connecting with incoming and current Kent State students and begin to explore their new home.
In the afternoon, there will be separate programming for students and their guests. Students will attend success workshops, meet with an academic advisor to discuss and register for their first semester classes and even pick up their FLASHcard! Guests will attend programming centered on how to best support your student during their transition to university life. They will also explore campus and take care of any business while here
Light breakfast will be provided. Guests who attend the program are responsible for paying for their own lunch.
