What were some highlights of your first year? Were there offices or specific individuals that helped you during your transition?
One of the biggest highlights of my first year of college was deciding to run for a Kent Interhall Council Representative position on my hall council. I always love attending the meetings to see what fun activities the campus was offering that week, and hearing all about the fun events each of the Resident Assistants have planned for their floors. I have met some of my closest friends through Hall Council, and wouldn't trade it for the world. The Resident Assistant advisor, Dale Markowski, and Graduate Assistant Advisor, Emily Murasso, have also made a huge impact on not only my hall council success, but they have pushed me to continue to improve my academic and leadership abilities as well. Another major highlight of this year was discovering all of the fun classes, games, leagues, and social events the Kent State Student Recreation and Wellness Center has for their students. I have found that scheduling time to go to the gym, whether it's to lift, play racket ball, or run on the track, has been a huge help with stress relief and keeping a healthy mindset. Through the Student Recreation and Wellness Center I have a newfound passion in rock climbing! I am grateful for all of the opportunities Kent has to offer and I hope to get even more involved next year!
