What were some highlights of your first year? Were there offices or specific individuals that helped you during your transition?

During my first year I struggled a bit with finding my place and getting connected the same way that I was in high school. I'm so grateful for the opportunity that hall council gave me as a freshman. I met really amazing people that were on the executive board with me and most importantly I got connected with our Assistant Resident Hall Director, Josh Longsdorf. He was always there to help my fellow hall council members and I even beyond hall council activities. Whether it was advice for classes or “how to adult” advice, he was consistently there to support us. My First Year Experience class also presented me with a lot of support and encouragement. My Student Success Leader, Aron Cline, always made time for one-on-ones and helped in the same way Josh did. He gave me advice on what to do with the struggles I was facing and how to navigate them in a logistical way. I am so grateful for the opportunities I had, and continue to have while I'm here at Kent and I know I couldn't have done it without the support of everyone from my first year!
