What were some highlights of your first year? Were there offices or specific individuals that helped you during your transition?
Before coming to Kent State I utilized the One Stop for Student Services for any questions I had about financial aid, and loans. They helped tremendously and always answered the questions throughout the year as well. During my first year I had a lot of amazing opportunities come my way through all of the connections I have made at Kent State University. I was able to start my own club to showcase my love for choreographing and share it with others as well. With the support of faculty members, I applied and accepted a Resident Assistant position in Prentice next year. My graduate student professors helped in my transition and gave me guidance in navigating new surroundings without all of the comforts from home. I sought out counseling at White Hall for my mental health since I was not able to see my local therapist at home which helped immensely knowing I was not alone. Overall, with friends, professors, and assistants, I have always felt supported and set up for success here at Kent State.
