Assessment & Accreditation - EHHS
Assessment is a fundamental component of Kent State University’s work. Kent State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Our most recent HLC visit resulted in a reaffirmation decision through the 2022-2023 academic year. For information on institution-level accreditation, please visit the Office of Accreditation, Assessment and Learning.
Within the College of Education, Health and Human Services, we hold professional/disciplinary accreditation from 12 professional accreditors (8 are CHEA recognized) in addition to providing annual reporting on all degree programs for the HLC. Our educator preparation programs (teacher licensure, endorsement, and administrative programs) are reviewed by the Ohio Department of Higher Education, in addition to applicable Specialized Professional Associations (SPAs).
Further, all degree programs are subject to seven-year external program reviews facilitated by Kent State University’s Office of Accreditation, Assessment and Learning in addition to any professional/disciplinary accreditation.
For these reasons and a belief in continuous improvement, assessment is an integral part of both the academic programs and student service units within the College of Education, Health and Human Services.
