The Kent State University Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) will welcome our first cohort of students in the summer of 2019. The MSAT program is an intensive 2-year program that includes courses in the first and second summers.

These courses will allow students to learn the true definition of athletic training, as well as be able to navigate which facets of the industry interest them the most.

Applicants are required to have an extensive science background including work in the following courses:

  • Biology
  • Basic Athletic Training
  • Biomechanics
  • Anatomy and Physiology (including Exercise Physiology)
  • Chemistry
  • Research
  • Nutrition
  • General Psychology

Students who may ask “what is athletic training?” before applying may be aware that all of these aspects are essential to the field, however, it is all of these elements combined that make for a true professional on the sidelines, in a locker room, or in any other athletic setting.

All potential coursework will be evaluated by the faculty for acceptance.
