Scholarships for New Freshmen in Ohio for Fall 2019

The most common scholarships for new freshmen at the Kent Campus are included in the chart below. Select the appropriate category for your test score and view the scholarship amount you qualify for based on your high school grade point average. You will be considered for these scholarships by submitting a complete application for admission to Kent State by Feb. 1, 2019

Students who apply, are admitted and enroll in the Honors College are eligible for the amounts listed with the superscript “H” in table above. Scholarship amounts in the chart may include the Honors College and/or Trustee Scholarship. The Honors Scholarship amount included in the totals range from $1,000 to $5,000. Students will receive a detailed scholarship offer letter after they are admitted to Kent State University.
To be considered for new freshmen scholarships at the Kent Campus, you must be a U.S. citizen, a full-time student and submit a complete application for admission (including high school transcript, ACT or SAT scores and application fee) by Feb. 1, 2019. December 2018 is the last acceptable ACT/SAT test date for scholarship consideration.
Scholarship offers and award amounts will be determined by official testing and high school transcript information submitted to Kent State University at the time of application.
Additionally, students who submit a complete application for admission to Kent State by Feb. 1, 2019 will be considered for the scholarship programs listed below.
OSCAR RITCHIE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This $3,000 Kent Campus scholarship is available to incoming African-American, Native American, Hispanic or Latino high school seniors with a 3.0 minimum high school cumulative GPA and a 20 ACT composite or 1060 SAT total score.
The Founders Scholarship program is extremely competitive with a limited number of awards available each year. Students must have a 4.0 cumulative high school GPA and a minimum 32 ACT / 1420 SAT score.
Honors Residence Scholarship
The Kent Campus Freshman and Sophomore Scholarship Match Programs will match any outside scholarship that an eligible incoming freshman or sophomore brings to Kent State for the fall semester or the academic year, up to a total of $1,000. Students must submit the Scholarship Match Application.
