The Write Place

The Graduate College is offering the Write Place every Wednesday and Saturday beginning August 30. Join your fellow graduate students for weekly writing accountability groups. The sessions will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesdays in University Library 314 and 2-5 p.m. via Microsoft Teams on Saturdays. In collaboration with the Writing Commons, a Graduate Writing Consultant will be present during every session to assist students as needed. Students are welcome to join whenever they are able!
Teaching Tuesday Wellness Series

Join us on Tuesday, September 5 from 2-3:30 p.m. via Microsoft Teams as we discuss strategies for navigating the demands of teaching as a graduate student. Teaching Philosophy Workshop

A teaching philosophy statement is an essential part of academic job applications. The document allows you to reflect on your own teaching and what you value most as an instructor. Join us for an interactive workshop Tuesday, September 12 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
Three Minute Thesis

Put your academic, presentation, and research communication skills to the test by presenting your research in three minutes to an intelligent, but non-specialist audience. Join us for the ninth annual Three Minute Thesis Competition! The competition will be held in two preliminary rounds on Tuesday, September 26 and Wednesday, September 27 from 12-2 p.m. in Kent Student Center 310. Top presenters from each round will advance to the 3MT finals on Tuesday, October 3 at 12 p.m. in the Kiva. visit the Graduate College website. Registration will be open until September 19 at 11:59 p.m.
Additionally, LaunchNET in collaboration with the Graduate College, will be hosting drop-in feedback sessions on Wednesday, September 13 from 12-1 p.m. and Tuesday, September 19 from 2-3 p.m. Both sessions will be hosted in University Library 352. The Graduate College is bringing domestic and international graduate students together for opportunities to connect with one another over games, intercultural dialogues, and opportunities to build community and friendship. Counseling and Psychological Services Mental Health Series for Graduate Students

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is offering a Mental Health Series specifically for graduate students. The first session on Wednesday, September 20 from 12-1 p.m. focues on building better relationships. You can join the workshop via Microsoft Teams.
Parents and Family Weekend Open House

Graduate Student Recognition

The Center for Teaching and Learning offers Teaching Recognition Awards toCTL website. We want to recognize three graduate students who have recently received these awards. Congratulations!
all instructors at Kent State, including graduate students and faculty of all appointment types (TT, NTT, adjunct). The objective of the teaching development awards program is to recognize actions that enhance teaching and learning at Kent State University. The program allows instructors to earn tiered awards (bronze, silver, gold & platinum) for their efforts to learn about, implement, evaluate and investigate evidence-based instructional practices. Graduate Student Senate (GSS)

Join Graduate Student Senate (GSS) for the first Grad Fest of the semester on August 25 from 3-5 p.m. on the green outside of Taylor Hall. There will be yard games and Handel's Ice Cream. You don't want to miss it!Microsoft Teams. Kent State University Graduate Student Senate follows Robert's Rules of Order, and thus meetings are open to the public to encourage robuts participation and an equitable sharing of information and opinions. However, according to GSS bylaws, only Senators or Alternates are voting members and will be able to vote on any official GSS business.
Additionally, GSS would like to invite ALL graduate students to the first Graduate Student Senate meeting on Monday, August 28th from 12:30-2 p.m. in the Student Governance Chambers (Kent Campus Student Center, Second Floor).
