University Fellowship: Shankar Pandey

Shankar Pandey HeadshotMeet Shankar Pandey, a University Fellowship recipient. Shankar is a Ph.D. Chemistry and Biochemistry student majoring in Chemistry.

Please give a short overview of your research:

I am doing research on peptide-peptide interaction, the folding pathway, and the interaction behavior of β-amyloid peptides in presence of different small molecular environments by using single-molecule force spectroscopy. Moreover, my research also focuses on the single-molecular investigation of small molecular ligands with nucleic acid and host-guest complexes.

What made you choose to pursue your graduate degree here at Kent State?

The research diversity and outcomes of the department, especially the research of Professor Hanbin Mao attracted me to join the Kent State University. Moreover, the environment of the Kent indeed enticed me to pursue my graduate degree at Kent State University.

What do you enjoy most about attending Kent State for graduate school?

I really enjoyed the classes, the teaching styles, the research environment, and the friendliness of professors about attending Kent State University.

What are your future goals?

One of my future goals is to be a well renowned research scientist in the field of bioanalytical chemistry.

What does this award mean to you and how will it aid you?

It is my immense pleasure to receive this award and I am really thankful to the department of chemistry and biochemistry for providing an ambient research environment. This award will help me to focus full time on my dissertation.
