Allison's three words that describe Kent State: Community, Family, Home

TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AS A STUDENT AT KENT STATE!

I am a senior aeronautical systems engineering technology major pursuing a master's in engineering technology. I am a tour guide on campus, and a TA in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering. I came from a very small high school and did not know anyone coming to college, which was very intimidating. Being a small fish in a big pond is really scary as a new college student. However, the Kent community was so kind and welcoming, I found my place immediately!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE KENT STATE?

Kent State was my first choice, because they had my major and the campus truly spoke to me. I loved how beautiful campus was on my own tour, and I could just truly see myself here for the next four years. I loved Kent so much, I decided to stay an extra year to get my master's here!

WHEN DID KENT STATE START TO FEEL LIKE HOME?

Almost immediately! Joining clubs and going to the student club fairs helped me find some of my best friends, along with being outgoing in my classes and talking to people.

My time at Kent has truly been life changing.

WHO HAS MADE YOUR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE SPECIAL?

Dr Richard Hassler, and Shawn Wilson!

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY?

Seeing the black squirrels every day!

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS, POST-GRADUATION?

Long term, I would like to work for NASA. Kent State helped me to find an internship with Howmet Aerospace for the summer of 2026, which is a huge step for my future.

WHY SHOULD OTHER STUDENTS CHOOSE KENT STATE?

There is a community here for you waiting to give you some of the best memories ever.
