Zoie's three words that describe Kent State: Opportunities, Success, Exciting

TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AS A STUDENT AT KENT STATE!

I am a double major in psychology and paralegal studies. I started out in psychology and pre-law, then found the paralegal studies program and fell in love with it, changing my future plans. After changing my program, my overall academic performance improved a lot. I am also an active member of HerCampus, a club for college women, by college women.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE KENT STATE?

I chose Kent State because it's a large school with a small-community feel. After my campus tour, I immediately felt at home here. It had the diversity and resources I was looking for and wanted to use. Coming here was the best choice I could've made for myself.

WHEN DID KENT STATE START TO FEEL LIKE HOME?

Within my first week, it started to feel like home. Going to events like Blastoff, bingo and other events really worked for me. There, I found my current roommates, best friends and forever study-buddies. I really felt comfortable going to all of the events, and everyone was so kind and welcoming, making me feel at home.

WHAT'S A COOL LEARNING EXPERIENCE YOU'VE HAD?

I have met a lot of cool people that I would've never met if I didn't come here and get involved, including students from parts of the world I can only dream of seeing. Hearing their experiences and learning from them has been really interesting and important. For example, I have friends from Nepal, South Africa and even Bulgaria. I have also met a lot of cool professors with impressive backgrounds. Most of my professors are experienced lawyers and tenured researchers who have had their studies published worldwide.

WHO HAS MADE YOUR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE SPECIAL?

My friends have really made my college experience so much fun and if I wasn't involved as a tour guide or being involved in my student org and hosting philanthropic events to better the community, I would've never met my best friends.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY?

Move-in day literally changed my life!

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS, POST-GRADUATION?

I will be a full-time paralegal and a part-time law student. I hope to eventually become an immigration lawyer. Kent State's American Bar Association-certified paralegal/pre-law program is setting me up to succeed in the field by giving me all the necessary materials and certifications.

WHY SHOULD OTHER STUDENTS CHOOSE KENT STATE?

Diversity, community, opportunities. There are so many resources available here, and I have had opportunities I would've never known about or had access to if I went anywhere else.
