School Psychology Program Receives 10-Year APA Accreditation

The school psychology program has been reaccredited by the American Psychology Association (or APA), through 2028! This ten-year period is the highest recognition of a program that APA can bestow. It was noted that the program offers broad education in health service psychology and demonstrates a commitment to the integration of science and practice.

The program, which began admitting students for doctoral study in the mid-1960s, has been accredited continuously by APA since 1984—the only doctoral training program in Ohio with such distinction. “Our sustained accreditation could not have been realized without the achievements of our former and current students, or the continual partnerships with our field-based partners, adjuncts, and colleagues,” said Frank Sansosti, Ph.D., a professor in the program. “We have maintained remarkable relationships that afford our students rich opportunities to hone their skills for supporting children and families.”

Graduates of the program have been recognized leaders in the field, working as school psychologists, school administrators, and faculty members. In addition, graduates of the program have gone on to work within hospital/clinic settings and began their own private practice.
