Alumni Spotlight: Elizabeth Ponder Melick

The Division of Graduate Studies at Kent State is proud of our alumni and their many accomplishments. This week for our #FlashBackFriday Alumni Spotlight, we're featuring alumna Elizabeth Ponder Melick!

Elizabeth Ponder Melick, a scholar of medieval English romance and manuscripts, earned her Ph.D. from Kent State University’s Department of English in 2018, where she was awarded the department's Toerne Best Dissertation Award for her project titled "Four Middle English Roland Romances."

Elizabeth is currently an assistant professor of English at Northwest Florida State College, where she examines depictions of race, gender and religion in fourteenth and fifteenth century literature.

Her dissertation has even been published as a book: Elizabeth Melick, Susanna Fein, and David Raybin, eds., The Roland and Otuel Romances and the Anglo-French Otinel, Middle English Texts Series (Kalamazoo, MI: Medieval Institute Publications, 2019).
