Summer Telecommuting Expires August 5, 2022

Dear Kent State University Staff,

Thank you again for your dedication and for all you have done throughout the summer to make Kent State great. This is a reminder that your summer flexible work arrangement and summer telecommuting agreement will expire on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, and employees will return to their normal work schedule and location. On Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, all municipal tax withholdings will revert back to your home campus, unless approved for an ongoing telecommuting arrangement. As we approach the expiration of summer telecommuting, here are a few updates.

Update Municipal Tax Withholdings

On Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, all municipal tax withholdings previously based on your permanent home address will revert to your home campus at the beginning of the next pay period. Employees who moved during the summer months or plan to telecommute after Aug. 5 must execute a new Telecommuting Work Arrangement Form. Employees are also asked to update their permanent address in Flashline and email payroll@kent.edu to ensure appropriate taxation. Responsibility to update permanent addresses rests solely with the employee and may have tax implications.

Where Can I Find Telecommuting FAQs?

We realize supervisors and employees may have questions surrounding the transition from summer telecommuting and flexible work arrangements or requests for new arrangements. Visit the frequently asked questions (FAQs) page to assist you in determining the correct plan of action for your individual situation.

Kent State’s administrative policy on telecommuting applies to all eligible full-time unclassified employees and full-time, non-represented classified employees on all Kent State campuses. In addition, the university continues its flexible work arrangement policy for alternative work schedules. Visit the flexible work arrangements and telecommuting page for more information.

It is important to remember that any flexible work arrangement or telecommuting arrangement must be guided by what is best for students, the campus community and the operational needs of the unit and the university.

If you have additional questions, please contact HR Employee Wellness at 330-672-0392 or wellness@kent.edu

Thank you again for your commitment to our university, our students and our guests.

Sincerely,

Tiffany Murray, J.D.
Interim Vice President for Human Resources
