Lashonda M. Taylor
Assistant Vice President, University Events and Special Projects
Lashonda joined Kent State University in July 2009 and presently serves as the assistant vice president for university events and special projects. In this role, she serves as the senior officer responsible for University events and protocol. Lashonda leads a team of event professionals and implements long-term programming, operational strategies and planning of presidential and university-level events, projects and initiatives. She is an active member of many university committees and serves as a liaison to university offices and divisions for the planning and execution of events.
Lashonda holds a Master of Science degree in hospitality and tourism management and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University. She is currently pursing a Doctor of Education degree in interprofessional leadership at Kent State University. Lashonda also holds the designation of certified Collegiate, Conference and Events Professional (CCEP) and Certified Meeting Professional (CMP). She is a graduate of Kent State University's Institute for Excellence leadership training program and is a certified Intercultural Etiquette and Protocol Trainer through the Protocol School of Washington®.
Lisa R. O'Connell
University Events and Ceremonies Director
Lisa joined Kent State University in July of 2012 and currently serves as event director for university ceremonies and events. In her role, she leads the planning of major university events and special programs. Lisa represents the University Events and Protocol office as a member of many university committees. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Toledo and is presently pursuing a Master of Science degree in hospitality and tourism management. Lisa is also a graduate of the Leadership Akron Community Leadership Institute and Kent State University's Institute for Excellence leadership training program.
Keli D. Greene
Special and Academic Events Director
Keli Greene serves as event director for special and academic events. She joined Kent State University in 2007. Since her start, she has served in various administrative capacities. In this role, Keli is responsible for the lead planning and coordination of special and academic events. Keli serves on many university committees and supports university offices and divisions with event planning. Keli is an active member of the Kent Area Chapter of the Links, Inc. where she plans and coordinates numerous events. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University.
University Events and Protocol Director
Debra Berry currently serves as director for university protocol and events. She joined Kent State in 2005 and most recently served as senior assistant to the president and protocol manager. Debra brings a breadth of experience dealing with university protocol and presidential events. In her role, she serves as an advisory role to the university community on protocol and etiquette, relative to the hospitable and appropriate treatment of visitors. She is responsible for the planning, execution and coordination of academic, presidential and other major university events. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University and an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Akron.
Jasmine M. Pennino
Special Events Manager
Jasmine Pennino joined Kent State University staff in 2018 and currently serves as a special events manager for University Events and Protocol. In this role, she assists with the coordination and execution of special events and ceremonies. Jasmine has many years of experience in event design, customer service and management. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University in 2014.
