CLASS OF 2022

Dear Summer Graduates:

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation. We invite you to participate in an in-person and/or virtual commencement ceremony on August 20, 2022. In-person ceremonies will take place on Manchester Field at the Kent Campus and will adhere to Flashes Safety Principles. If you experience any Covid symptoms: Stay home, contact your medical provider and call the COVID Response Team at 330-672-2525. Below, please find ceremony details to assist you with your participation.

CEREMONY SCHEDULE

Saturday, August 20, 2022

  • 9 a.m. Virtual Commencement
  • 10 a.m. Undergraduate and Advanced Degrees in the Colleges of:
    • Aeronautics and Engineering
    • Architecture and Environmental Design
    • Education, Health and Human Services
    • Nursing
    • Public Health
  • 2 p.m. Undergraduate and Advanced Degrees in the Colleges of:
    • Ambassador Crawford - Business and Entrepreneurship
    • Applied & Technical Studies 
    • The Arts
    • Arts and Science
    • Communication and Information

CAP AND GOWN 

  • Visit the University Bookstore during normal business hours or place your order online by July 8 to avoid rush shipping fees.

CHECK-IN

  • Schedule your ceremony check-in time. (This is the arrival time for you and your guests.)
  • Doors will open one hour before your ceremony start time.

SEATING AND GUEST TICKETS

  • Graduates who have RSVP'd to attend an in-person ceremony can download guest tickets starting on July 20. 
  • A live simulcast of the ceremony will be available in the Student Center KIVA for guests without tickets.
  • Seating areas for graduates and guests will be tented.
  • Accessibility seating and other reasonable accommodations will be available to guests at Commencement. Guests in need of accommodations should arrive no less than 60 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony and see an usher to be seated. Seating in these reserved areas cannot be guaranteed once the ceremony begins.

PARKING AND SHUTTLES

  • All parking lots are open on Commencement Day. Handicap parking is available. Shuttles will run to and from the ceremony venue.
  • drop-off permit for guests in need of ADA accommodations can be displayed in the dash of the car window.

DOCTORAL DEGREE CANDIDATES

  • Doctoral graduate seating will be reserved at the front of the main tent towards the stage.
  • Directly after crossing the stage, Doctoral graduates will be able to pick up their diplomas at the red student and guest check-in area as indicated on the ceremony map.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

  • The Commencements will be held rain or shine. Severe weather (thunderstorms, lightning, tornado watch and/or warning) may lead to postponement. Communication on event delays due to inclement weather will be posted on the Commencement website and also emailed to the graduates' FlashLine account.
