Online Checklist for Graduation and Commencement

Apply for Graduation
  1. Log in to FlashLine
  2. Review your personal information and update if needed:
    1. Name: Please be sure that your name is listed properly, as this is how it will be announced and listed in the commencement program.
    2. Diploma Mailing Address: Please be sure to update your diploma mailing address to ensure that you receive your diploma.
  3. Remove a Student Directory Restriction
RSVP

January 16 - March 1

Each graduate who RSVPs their attendance will be allocated 6 guest tickets, cross the stage, and have their name announced. 

  1. Log in to FlashLine
  2. Click on the Student Tab
  3. Under Resources, select Graduation
  4. Click RSVP for the Kent Campus Commencement Ceremony
  5. Select Spring 2024 term
  6. Follow the prompts to answer additional questions. 
    1. Please note: the phonetic spelling of your name is used to help the announcer pronounce your name for Commencement.
    2. You will receive a confirmation of your RSVP selections when the form has been submitted. 
Guest Tickets

All guests 2 and older must have a guest ticket for entry into the ceremony venue.

  • A notification will be posted on the Commencement webpage as well as sent to your Kent State email address before the close of business on April 10 with the procedure for downloading your 6 guest tickets.
  • A live simulcast of the ceremony will be available in the Student Center KIVA for guests without tickets.
  • Guests unable to be on campus for the ceremonies can view the ceremonies live via webcast.
Cap, Gown and Graduation Material Deadlines

Grad Fair will take place at the University Bookstore located at the Kent Campus Student Center. Stop in for a chance to win a raffle, enjoy bundle pricing to save on the purchase of your cap and gown, and light refreshments. GradImages will be there to take headshots and cap and gown photos. Josten's will offer exclusive deals on bundled items and be available to assist with purchasing your announcements, class rings, and more!

  • Saturday, March 9 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Monday, March 11 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 12 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Unable to attend Grad Fair? Visit the University Bookstore during normal business hours or place your order online by March 29 to avoid rush shipping fees.

  • The deadline for Doctoral regalia purchases is March 15, and the deadline for Doctoral rentals is March 29
In-Person Ceremony Participation Info
  • ADA Accommodations: Contact University Events and Protocol at graduate@kent.edu if you will need assistance with ADA accessibility at the ceremonies.
  • Ceremony Reporting details will be sent to graduates' Kent State emails prior to the ceremonies.

Diplomas

The Office of the University Registrar has partnered with Parchment Inc. to improve the diploma fulfillment process for graduates of Kent State University. Upon final degree approval, the Spring 2024 graduate’s diplomas will be fulfilled by Parchment.

  • Your digital diploma will arrive approximately 4-5 weeks after commencement. Watch for an email notification.
    • Notification will be sent to your Kent State email.
    • Follow the link to set up your Parchment Digital credentials account.
    • Share and download your digital diploma as many times as you like.
  • Paper diplomas will be mailed separately to your permanent address on file 7-10 days after you receive your digital diploma.

To verify a diploma or permanent address:

  1. Visit FlashLine
  2. Select the Student category
  3. Select Dashboard
  4. Select My Personal Information located under Profile
