Online Checklist for Graduation and Commencement

2. Log into FlashLine 

  • Apply to Graduate
  • Confirm your personal information: Name, Major, Degree and Diploma Mailing Address 
  • Remove a Student Directory Restriction 
  • CLOSED - RSVP in FlashLine January 14 - March 22
    • Graduation Candidates whose application for graduation has been tentatively accepted by their advising office for the current term will be contacted via their Kent State email address to RSVP.

 

3. LATE RSVP

  • Graduates who did not RSVP by March 22 should email graduate@kent.edu to request to submit a late ceremony RSVP.  Tickets for graduates who complete a late RSVP will be available for download on April 29.  

 

4. Download Guest Tickets

  • Current Term Graduates who complete the RSVP by March 22 will have access to 6 ceremony tickets for their guests to attend the ceremony.  The link to complete the ticket download will be posted on this webpage in addition to an electronic notification that will be sent to each candidate via their Kent State email address before the close of business on April 2.
    • Graduates should login to the site using their Kent State email address and provide their Kent State ID number as the password. 
  • Requesting Additional Tickets
    • Graduates can give back unused tickets to their peers during their ticket download! If there are additional tickets available in the give-back pool of the ticketing site, you will be able to request up to two additional guest tickets. If extra tickets aren't available, be sure to check the ticketing website give-back pool throughout the semester!

  • Lavender Graduation: Ceremony honoring the achievements of graduating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and ally (LGBTQ+) students at Kent State University.

  • Senior Block Party: Flashes Forever!

        • 6 - 8 p.m.
  • Karamu Ya Wahitimu: Ceremony celebrating the achievements of all graduating African American, Native American, Latinx, Hispanic and Multiracial undergraduate and graduate students.
    • Memorial Athletic and Convocation (MAC) Center
      • Thursday, May 9, 2019
        • 6 p.m.

 

6. Commencement Announcements, Invitations, Garb and Related Materials 

7. Attend Commencement 

  • Graduate Check In and Guest Seating will begin at 90 minutes prior to the ceremony.  
  • All graduates must be checked in one hour prior to the ceremony start time.
    • Advanced Degree Graduates report to the MAC Center Annex with your cap and gown.
    • Baccalaureate Degree Graduates report to the field house at Dix Stadium with your cap and gown.
  • Detailed ceremony reporting instructions will be sent to your Kent State email address. 
    • Special Note: An indoor inclement weather schedule will be announced on April 2.
       

8. After the Ceremony

9. Diploma Mailing 

  • Diplomas will be mailed upon final approval to the graduate’s diploma address approximately 8-10 weeks following the ceremony.
    • Spring 2019 diploma pick up will be at 108 Schwartz Center June 17, 18, and 19.  Only degree recipients will be permitted to pick up diplomas.  A photo ID or passport will be required.
    • Remaining diplomas will be mailed from the Registrar's Office on June 20, 2019 to the graduate's diploma address (if identified) or permanent address in FlashLine.
