Online Checklist for Graduation and Commencement

Log into FlashLine 

  • Apply to Graduate
  • Review your personal information and update if needed:
    • Name: Please be sure that your name is listed properly, as this is how it will be announced and listed in the commencement program.
    • Diploma Mailing Address: Please be sure to update your diploma mailing address to ensure that you receive your package.
  • Remove a Student Directory Restriction 
  • RSVP: June 22 - July 16 (Closed)
    • To complete a late RSVP to the in-person ceremony please email
    • Please note: the phonetic spelling of your name is used to help the announcer pronounce your name for Commencement.


  • Deadline to download guest tickets will be August 13. 
  • Instructions to download:
    • Login using your FlashLine Email Address. 
    • Your password is your KSU ID Number.
    • Select your ceremony. 
    • Continue to follow the prompts to place your ticket order.
    • Tickets cannot be printed on-site. 
    • If you need assistance, contact the Office of University Events and Protocol immediately. Office staff will not be available on event day to assist with ticket downloads.
  • All graduates who RSVP'd will have access to downloading their 4 guest tickets
  • All guests 2 and older must have a guest ticket for entry in to the ceremony venue.

Cap, Gown and Graduation Materials

  • Visit the University Bookstore during normal business hours to make your purchase. Detailed information and pricing is listed online at the Campus Bookstore

  • Americana and/or Institutional Honor cords will be mailed in July to the permanent address on file to all eligible graduates. Click here to view additional information and eligibility requirements.

  • All of the commencement ceremonies will be live-streamed.
  • All Graduates will be seated with their guests.
  • ADA Accommodations: Contact University Events and Protocol at if you will need assistance with ADA accessibility at the outdoor ceremonies.
  • Ceremony Reporting: Detailed ceremony reporting instructions will be sent to your Kent State email address.

After the Ceremony


  • Upon final degree approval, the Office of the University Registrar will offer diploma pick up or mailings.

    • Diploma pick up for Spring 2021 graduates will be at 108 Schwartz Center
      • Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
      • Monday - Tuesday, September 20-21, 2021 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
      • A photo ID or passport will be required.
    • Remaining diplomas will be mailed from the Registrar's Office to your diploma address (if identified) or permanent address in FlashLine.
