Online Checklist for Graduation and Commencement

Log into FlashLine 

  • Apply to Graduate
  • Review your personal information and update if needed:
    • Name: Please be sure that your name is listed properly, as this is how it will be announced and listed in the commencement program.
    • Diploma Mailing Address: Please be sure to update your diploma mailing address to ensure that you receive your diploma.
  • Remove a Student Directory Restriction 
  • RSVP: October 18 - November 1 
    • Log into FlashLine
    • Click on the Student Tab
    • Under Resources, select Graduation
    • Click RSVP for the Kent Campus Commencement Ceremony 
    • Select Fall 2021 term
    • Follow the prompts to answer additional questions.  
      • Please note: the phonetic spelling of your name is used to help the announcer pronounce your name for Commencement.
      • You will receive a confirmation of your RSVP selections when the form has been submitted. 

GUEST TICKETS

  • All graduates who RSVP'd to attend an in-person commencement can download 4 guest tickets.  The ticketing website will be open from November 15 - December 15.
  • All guests 2 and older must have a guest ticket for entry into the ceremony venue.

Cap, Gown and Graduation Materials

  • Grad Fair will take place at the University Bookstore located in the Kent Campus Student Center. Stop in to purchase your cap and gown and enjoy light refreshments.
    • Saturday, October 23 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
    • Monday, October 25 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Unable to attend Grad Fair? Visit the University Bookstore during normal business hours or you can reach them via email at SM8152@bncollege.com.
  • Americana and/or Institutional Honor cords will be mailed in November to the permanent address on file to all eligible graduates. Click here to view additional information and eligibility requirements.

IN-PERSON CEREMONY PARTICIPATION INFO

  • All of the in-person commencement ceremonies will be live-streamed.
  • ADA Accommodations: Contact University Events and Protocol at graduate@kent.edu if you will need assistance with ADA accessibility at the ceremonies.
  • The Commencement Map shows the available parking including disability parking, location of the ceremony venue, ADA dropoff, and the shuttle routes on Commencement day. 
  • A drop-off permit for guests in need of ADA accommodations can be displayed in the dash of the car window. This will allow the guest to be dropped off at the Lobby A doors of the MAC Center in the R10 parking lot.
  • Ceremony Reporting: Detailed ceremony reporting instructions will be sent to your Kent State email address.

After the Ceremony

Diplomas 

  • Upon final degree approval, the Office of the University Registrar will offer diploma pick up or mailings.

    • Diploma pick up for Fall 2021 graduates will be at 108 Schwartz Center
      • Saturday, January 29, 2022 
      • Monday - Tuesday, January 31 - February 1, 2022 
      • A photo ID or passport will be required.
    • Remaining diplomas will be mailed from the Registrar's Office to your diploma address (if identified) or permanent address in FlashLine.
