Kent State Research Review 2019: Finding New Methods to Lose Weight

Senior biology and pre-medicine major Jacob WagnerSenior biology and pre-medicine major Jacob Wagner conducted research on new methods to lose weight involving the relationship between endocannabinoid receptors and muscle thermogenesis, both properties that regulate bodily functions and processes, such as appetite and burning calories.

Under associate professor Colleen Novak, Ph.D., Wagner is continuing to research the relationship between those properties to find new weight loss methods due to the continuation of the obesity problem in America.

“We want to find a method that allows the body to burn fat more efficiently, since a lot of people work out and don’t see the results,” Wagner said.
