Welcome! Our primary mission is to provide an enriched educational experience for academically motivated and talented students at Kent State University. Both in and out of the classroom, our learning environment provides students with opportunities to interact and share ideas with other bright, motivated students and mentoring professors.

The Honors College at Kent State University provides students with a liberal arts education at a large, public research institution. Demanding courses, stimulating discussions, international study, and research projects will challenge your intellect and enhance your education.

Admissions & Scholarships

The Honors College seeks to recruit a diverse student body that fosters a community of academic excellence. As a student in the Honors College, you will be a part of both a large university and an intimate community of dedicated scholars. You will have at your disposal the resources of a major public research institution while attending small classes with diverse topics that emphasize participation in dynamic discussions.

Senior Honors Thesis/Project

The Senior Honors Thesis/Project is a 6-credit-hour independent project. It may be a research, creative, or applied project and is completed under the direction of a faculty member.

Student Life

The Honors College is a community within the larger Kent State University community, and its members participate in all the cultural, athletic, and social activities Kent State University offers. Honors College students play on sports teams, serve in student government, work in student media, run student businesses, play for the marching band, and more. The Honors College also offers its own special opportunities and encourages its members to participate in every aspect of their community. First-year students may choose to live and learn with other Honors College students in our living-learning community.
