Travel Advisory Information
Posted Oct, 4, 2010To All Concerned:
The Office of International Affairs and the Provost at Kent State University would like to make you aware of the recent U.S. State Department’s travel advisory for Europe. Due to recent events in Europe, the State Department is advising everyone to be extra cautious while abroad; however, they are not advising against travel to Europe. Our recommendation, as usual, is to exercise cautious behavior while traveling.
We further advise travelers to be vigilant in following basic safety concepts, such as traveling in groups, avoiding demonstrations and reporting suspicious behavior to the authorities, especially such behavior observed in airports and other travel depots.
The U.S. State Department reiterates its suggestion to register travel plans with the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy: https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/. The entire travel advisory is available at the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs website: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/pa/pa_europe.html.
So far, it appears that all Kent State programs are running without interruption. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of International Affairs staff at 330-672-7980.
Very truly yours,
Mary Anne Saunders,
