Kent State University Police Provide Update on August RobberiesPosted Oct, 15, 2009
Kent State University Police have provided an update on the robberies that were reported on or near campus the weekend preceding the start of the semester. Two victims were reported to have been robbed on-campus in the early morning hours on Sunday, Aug. 30. Two of the three suspects have been arrested in connection with this robbery. The third suspect has not yet been identified.
The second on-campus robbery, involving one victim, was reported to have occurred in the later evening hours on Monday, Aug. 31. The victim of this robbery recanted his allegations on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Kent State University Police requested a meeting with this victim to discuss inconsistencies discovered during the course of the investigation. At that time, the victim disclosed that the robbery did not occur.
Although disappointed that the original report by this person caused a significant negative impact on the university community, Kent State University Police are now able to focus their investigation on the isolated incident of Aug. 30.
