SPTA Club Raises Money for Western Reserve Prosthetics and Orthotics Centre
Posted Oct. 18, 2012
Kent State University at East Liverpool’s Student Physical Therapist Assistant (SPTA) club recently held a basket raffle to raise money for the Western Reserve Prosthetics and Orthotics Centre located in Warren, Ohio. The students raffled off 16 baskets made from community and individual donations, raising $1500.00 for Western Reserve.
As the owner of Western Reserve Prosthetics and Orthotics, Rick Grope has helped over 1,000 individuals receive artificial limbs since opening the Centre in 2001.
Grope is also a guest lecturer for the PTA students each spring semester, bringing assistive devices and patients to the campus for hands on learning. In return, the SPTA Club wanted to personally thank him for his generosity to Kent State University and the community he serves.
