Campus Sustainability Day on Oct. 24Posted Oct. 22, 2012
Kent State University at Stark will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Campus Sustainability Day on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 2 - 3:30 p.m. in the Main Hall Auditorium.
Join us as we watch the webcast, Preparing Students for a Changing Climate, a live panel discussion on the role colleges and universities must play in creating sustainability education to prepare our students, the next generation of leaders, to embrace a just, healthy and sustainable society.
Panel members include Dr. Geoffrey Chase, leader of the Ponderosa Project; Julie Elzanati, director of the Illinois Green Economy Network; Neil Weissman, provost of Dickinson College; and Debera Johnson, founder of the Pratt Design Incubator for Sustainable Innovation. The panel will discuss best practices for creating ecological curriculum, advancing experimental and living laboratory learning and engaging faculty and the surrounding community in meaningful and critical education.
Immediately following the webcast, attendees can participate in a discussion facilitated by Mitch McKenney, assistant professor of journalism and mass communication and co-coordinator of Kent State Stark’s Herbert W. Hoover Initiative in Environmental Media.
