Graduate Non-Degree Student Requirements

Whether you are considering taking a couple graduate courses to complete coursework or to feed your curiosity, Kent State offers a variety of non-degree programs to meet your needs.

Required Materials

Depending on your application type, you might have to prepare items to be considered for admission at Kent State. Please see the requirements below which are separated by type of non-degree graduate student.

Alumnus You have already earned a master’s or doctoral degree from Kent State University. Unlimited
Credits earned will not apply to a degree.		 $15/$15 No additional materials required. Re-enroll for up to 6 years.
Certificate You want to earn a graduate certificate in a specific area. Limited
to credit hours required to earn the certificate.		 $15/$15 Additional materials required. Please view our Graduate Programs webpage for more information Until credential is earned.**
Guest You have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and have no current interest in pursuing a degree. Six
Credits earned will not apply to a degree.		 $15/$15 No additional materials required. Re-enroll for up to 6 years.*
License/Endorsement

You have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and wish to pursue teacher or principal licensure. You do not currently hold a teacher license and wish to pursue initial licensure in Middle Childhood or Special Education. You currently hold a teacher license and wish to pursue additional teacher or principal licensure.

Non-Degree You have earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution and have no current interest in pursuing a degree. Unlimited
Up to 12 may be eligible to transfer to a degree program.		 $15/FREE Additional materials required. Please view our Graduate Programs webpage  for more information. 1 year**
Transient You are enrolled in a graduate degree program in good standing at another university and want to take classes at Kent State University. Unlimited
Must complete a new application for each term.		 $15/FREE No additional materials required. 1 semester. Must reapply for each subsequent semester.*

*If student is not enrolled 1 out of 3 consecutive terms, complete the reactivation form – no new app is required within the 6 year span.
**Student needs to be enrolled in 1 out of 3 consecutive terms to remain active.
