On behalf of the Parents and Families Engagement staff, I would like to welcome you and your admitted student to the Flashes Family!
Whether you are a parent or family member of a newly admitted student, you play an important role in supporting their success. We understand that this is a significant time of transition and want you to know that you are not in it alone. Over the next four years, you will become an integral part of an extensive support structure designed to aid you in developing your own unique relationship with Kent State.
Working with parents as partners in student success is a fundamental core of our mission. Thus, we recognize there is much to learn as you prepare for your student’s time at Kent State. We also understand that families want to establish an enduring connection to the university. Parents and Families Engagement can serve as your partner, connecting you with valuable resources as you assist your student along their college journey both inside and outside of the classroom.
As you work your way through the admissions process with your student, please do not hesitate to let us know if we can be of assistance in any way. I encourage you to explore our website. Here, you can find more information about our Flashes Parents and Families Council, Affinity Groups and Parents and Families Association. You can also find updated information on our Facebook page. In addition, be on the lookout for us in the monthly Parent and Family E-Newsletter from the Admissions Office, which offers plenty of useful tips to consider as you work to finalize college decisions as a family. You may also contact the office at 330-672-2980.
Again, congratulations! We hope that you find that Kent State is the perfect place for both your student and family.
Sincerely,
Shana Lee
