Therapist, Rooted & Restored Counseling, LLC

Ericca completed her Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies in December of 2014, then completed her Masters in Social Work in 2018 at The Ohio State University.

Ericca is a licensed social worker currently working in Columbus, Ohio. She has 7 years of experience in community-based mental health and advocacy. While working at KIPP: Columbus Elementary, Ericca worked with the team of school social workers to distribute over 5,000 meals, essential items, and clothing to Columbus families. While students were learning remotely, Ericca’s team was also able to distribute and deliver over 200 hotspots for families without internet access. The team was able to secure over $60,000 in donation money and created the KIPP: Columbus Emergency Fund. Their school community was facing evictions, cut-off notices, job loss, furloughs, and child care inconsistencies. Through their fund they assisted 116 families with mortgage and rent payments, utilities, gas and electric bills, furniture, clothing, and groceries.

Ericca facilitated and taught comprehensive sexual health education and, in collaboration with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, created a six month evidenced-based, comprehensive hybrid program meeting national standards of sexual health and education for 5th graders.

As a school social worker, Ericca provided counseling for elementary students with disabilities, coached teachers on de-escalation strategies and restorative discipline, and brought trauma-informed teaching strategies. While supervising undergraduate and masters level social work interns, she continued to assist students and their families with the navigation of complex social systems.

Ericca has remained connected to Kent State University by participating on graduate panels for HDFS students, providing guidance for undergraduates with her experiences after college. She has also represented Kent State University’s HDFS program on a national podcast interview where she discussed her path from Kent State to where she is today.

Currently Ericca works in private practice as a licensed psychotherapist trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and assists adults and young adults with symptoms of trauma, depression, and anxiety.
