Message From The Dean: Winter 2019

James C. Hannon
Season’s greetings and all the best to you and yours! As 2019 nears its close, I find much to be proud of in EHHS.  In particular, I am proud of the people who make up the College of Education, Health and Human Services. It is our collective strength and diversity that makes us great. Our willingness to place our students first, our drive to be innovative, our engagement in cutting-edge scholarship, our commitment to continuous improvement of curriculum to ensure our students receive optimal career preparation and our dedication to serving our local to global communities is evident in everything that we do.

We are proud to say we hosted the Ohio Latino Education Summit this November at Kent State University for the first time in history, and set a new record for registration and attendance with over 600 participants. We are proud to have a new fully online Ed.D. in Interprofessional Leadership approved and look forward to welcoming our first cohort of students in Summer 2020. An additional area of pride is the work we have done in improving first-year retention. Our retention rate was 83.5% this Fall which constitutes a 3.1% improvement over the past two years. This is a reflection of the great work of our faculty and staff, as well as the increased scholarship support from our wonderful donors. Speaking of donors, we set a new record in fundraising this past academic year of $2.7 million in philanthropic support. These are just a few of the countless accomplishments in our college.

May your holidays and New Year be filled with joy and happiness. I look forward to all of us working together to make 2020 the best year ever for EHHS!

Sincerely,

James C. Hannon, Ph.D.
