Message From The Dean: Winter 2021

James C. Hannon

Happy Holiday Season to all!

As we finish up the final weeks of 2021, I find myself reflecting on what a truly remarkable year it has been.

This fall, EHHS welcomed back many of our students and faculty to campus- and it was wonderful to see our halls and classrooms filled with energy again. I have missed everyone! Returning to campus was a great way to welcome the Class of 2025 to the EHHS family. We are also looking ahead at our planned study abroad programs in 2022- providing our students the transformational experience to travel internationally and gain global citizenship.

It is a significant point of pride for EHHS that two of our faculty members, Andrew Lepp, Ph.D. and Timothy Rasinski, Ph.D, were named in the top 2% of scientists in the world based on a recent study published by Stanford University scholars. These faculty members’ passion for their research and notoriety in their field helps prove why Kent State is a top-tier research university. To quote Dr. Rasiniski, “I see this recognition of my work as a validation of the work that all of us do in EHHS to make the world a better place for all.”

Speaking of making the world a better place, especially for our students, it was a fantastic scholarship year for EHHS. We awarded 311 scholarships to 193 of our students totaling $381,500+ in scholarship support this year. Our college has some of the most passionate donors at the university, and we could not provide this much support to students without each and every one of you.

These are just a few highlights from the year for the College of EHHS. You can read about these and several others in this newsletter and watch for more stories about EHHS faculty, students and alumni on our website and social media accounts throughout the year. Make sure to follow us on social if you don’t already!

In closing, I hope you have a happy and healthy holiday season! May 2022 be another great year for the College of EHHS.

Sincerely,

James C. Hannon, Ph.D.
