This panel will consider four questions. The scope, role and purpose of peace museum; the potential and limits of peace museums as vehicles for promoting education for peace; the challenges and opportunities presented for peace museums in the era of COVID; and potential synergies for collaboration going forward.

Peace Education Around the World: Strategies for conflict and post conflict education for peace

Peace education has been integrated as a source of conflict resolution and post-conflict reconstruction around the world. Expert panelists will provide insights from their regional context on the successes and challenges of peace education in conflict and post-conflict regions. The panel will focus, in particular, on the following interconnected issues: The definition, scope and methodologies of peace education; the balance/tension between the universalism of much mainstream thinking on peace and the need for cultural specificity; the relevance of peace education for conflict-ridden societies and/or those emerging from conflict; the challenges involved in implementing peace education in such contexts; and what constitutes appropriate measures of success.
