The panel will focus, in particular, on the following interconnected issues: The definition, scope and methodologies of peace education; the balance/tension between the universalism of much mainstream thinking on peace and the need for cultural specificity; the relevance of peace education for conflict-ridden societies and/or those emerging from conflict; the challenges involved in implementing peace education in such contexts; and what constitutes appropriate measures of success.
