
Mark L. Savickas
Biography
Mark Savickas earned his Ph.D. in Guidance and Counseling from Kent State University. He holds licenses in Ohio as a Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory Designation and as a Psychologist. As an Adjunct Professor of Counselor Education and Supervision at Kent State University, he has been privileged to teach the Career Counseling Course to more than 5,000 students and direct 32 dissertations. He has authored 100 articles, 56 book chapters, and 3 books. In addition, he has presented 175 papers at national and international conferences and made more than 500 presentations to professional associations. His book entitled Career Counseling been translated into Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean and his Career Adapt-Ability Scale has been translated into 20 languages. He established the Career Construction Theory of Vocational Behavior and founded the Society for Vocational Psychology. He has been President of the Counseling Psychology Division in the International Association of Applied Psychology and a board member for the International Association of Educational and Vocational Guidance. For 7 years he edited the Career Development Quarterly and for 18 years the Journal of Vocational Behavior. In addition to editing two journals, he has served on the editorial board for 15 journals and co-edited 7 books. He has held appointments as a visiting professor at Universidad da Lisboa (Portugal), Vrije Universiteit Brussels (Belgium), University of Pretoria (South Africa), University of Warwick England), Loughborough University (England), and University of Lausanne (Switzerland).
