"First Look" Event Previews Transformation of Kent State University

The university community gets sneak peek at campus improvements.

Kent State University faculty, staff, students and alumni were invited to "First Look," an event that offered the university community the opportunity to experience firsthand, the transformation of Kent State and the Northeast Ohio region. The event took place on Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Kent Student Center Ballroom.

Kent State President Lester A. Lefton delivered brief remarks at 9:30 a.m. and at 11:30 a.m., saying that the initiative was about not only creating a learning environment that will be unparalleled in Northeast Ohio, but also creating nearly 1,000 permanent jobs. "You will see a major transformation of our campus over the next few years. We are going to make our eight-campus system something that the 21st century should be, not what the 19th century was," Lefton said.

Members of the Kent State community learned how Kent State and regional partners are making a profound impact on Northeast Ohio. The “Foundations of Excellence: Building the Future” exhibit showed how Kent State is reinventing spaces for exceptional learning environments, growing new spaces to advance student success, fostering a sustainable future, creating a regional campus system with profound local impact, building on the momentum of recently completed projects and more.
