No matter when you attend, our program curates and hosts a variety of events including high profile guest speakers, recruiting events, alumni events, industry panels, and the annual Portfolio Showcase for graduating seniors. Check back frequently to see what exciting activities have been happening in New York!

New York Fashion Week

Every season our students participate at New York Fashion Week either as volunteers or through their internships. We have connections with designers as well as fashion PR and production agencies that recruit Kent State students to assist with their shows. You’ll have the chance to work backstage and see all the beautiful chaos that it takes to put together a show, or work front-of-house to be with all the A-listers, fashion media and globally recognized photographers. Our students have recently worked for shows such as Christian Siriano, Brandon Maxwell, Marchesa and Monse, to name but a few.  Also, just by being here you are oftentimes invited to shows during the week as a guest to be in the audience alongside the 100’s of journalists, bloggers and photographers who attend NYFW as part of their job description.

Guest Lectures

Every term, we host high-profile guest speakers on the New York City campus as part of our efforts to bring you closer to and get you more involved in the fashion industry. Recent lecturer guests include renowned menswear designer, Todd Snyder, called “the most influential menswear designer of his generation,” by GQ Magazine, and Carla Carstens, founder of FreeFashionInternships.com. Being in New York City, there are also guest speaker events happening outside of our campus which we encourage students to attend. Just last year, students were able to attend lectures from trend forecaster Li Edelkoort and designer Christopher John Rogers.
