Information for Faculty about Flash Survey

Q. When will the Flash Survey be administered to my students?

A. For Summer 2015 onward, the Flash Survey will be administered to students via the following rules:

  • Part-of-term and full-term courses
    • Start Date: 14 days prior to the official end date, inclusive, of the course per Banner (Banner dates do not reflect Finals Week for full-term courses)
    • Start Time: 12:01AM, Eastern Time
    • End Date: The official end date of the course per Banner
    • End Time: 11:59PM, Eastern Time
  • Courses longer than two days, but not part-of-term or full-term
    • Start Date: 2 days prior to the official end date, inclusive, of the course per Banner
    • Start Time: 12:01AM, Eastern Time
    • End Date: The official end date of the course per Banner
    • End Time: 11:59PM, Eastern Time
  • Courses two days or shorter
    • Start Date: The official end date of the course per Banner
    • Start Time: 12:01AM, Eastern Time
    • End Date: The official end date of the course per Banner
    • End Time: 11:59PM, Eastern Time

Q. Are students who have been assigned grades of SF (Stopped Attending-Fail) or NF (Never Attended-Fail) able to complete a survey?

A. Effective February 3, 2019, no, students who have SF or NF assigned to them at the time of the survey period will not be able to complete a survey.


Q. A student was assigned a grade of SF (Stopped Attending-Fail) but the grade has been removed; will the student receive a survey?

A. Yes, if the grade of SF is removed prior to the opening of the survey period or during the survey period, the survey will become available for the student. 


Q. How can I add a link to the Flash Survey for my students into my course in Blackboard Learn?

Q. When can I view the reports for my courses?

A. The reports will be emailed to faculty and authorized academic administrators the Wednesday morning following the completion of Finals Week for Spring and Fall. For all summer terms (Intersession, Summer I, Summer II, and Summer III), the reports will be emailed to faculty the Wednesday morning following the completion of Summer III. For all Summer 2019 courses, the reports will be available on August 21, 2019. 


Q. Where can I locate historical reports for online courses for the Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure process? 

A. Spring 2014 was a transitional semester and most of the online courses had their surveys administered via Flash Survey. For courses that ran prior to spring 2014, the reports for can be located at http://ssi.kent.edu
