Tips For Giving Your Room a Glow-up

  • Start with a color palette. Blue and gold, perhaps?
  • Choose wall decor. Think lightweight and removable, like posters, photo collages or Kent State pennants!
  • Add mood lighting. Use soft lighting, like table lamps or string lights, to create a cozy vibe.

Follow These Future Flash Residence Hall Hacks

  • Do get to know your Resident Assistant (RA). RAs live on an assigned residence hall floor and provide residents with valuable information, create a positive community, and promote safety and security. They're your go-to person for questions, support and navigating campus life.

  • Do chat with your roommate before move-in day. Set expectations about noise, guests, cleaning and shared items so you have a clear plan.

  • Do leave your door open when you're in your room. You never know when you might meet a new friend!

  • Don't forget your FLASHcard! If you accidentally get locked out of your room, use the CBORD Mobile ID smartphone app for a one-time PIN code.

  • Don't bring prohibited items. If you're not sure what to bring or leave at home, reference this packing list.

  • Don't isolate yourself. It's easy to stay in your room, but the best part of residence hall life is the people you meet!
