Meet and Greet: Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality

Join Dr. Molly Merryman to not only learn about the way to get involved with the Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality, but also Researching Queer Britain, an education abroad research opportunity where she will take students to the United Kingdom during the May Intersession 2020 and work with them as they conduct research to better understand the way in which the United Kingdom’s legacy of LGBTQ culture and legislation has directly impacted LGBTQ rights and cultural understandings of sexuality on a global level! Center no longer active as of spring 2022. May be restored in the future.

Run the World - 5th Anniversary

Run the World is turning 5 years old! Join us as we celebrate our love of international education and student scholarships at the best birthday party of the year! Run the World is a fundraising initiative that works to support students financially as they pursue an education abroad experience. For every 50 people that register, Run the World is able to give 1 student a $1000 scholarship; the more people that register, the more scholarships we can give away! *FLASHPERK EVENT*

The Office of International Programs and education abroad will also be at this event so be sure to stop by so they can show you how to incorporate your education abroad experience into your GPS and roadmap!
Education Abroad Expo

The Education Abroad Expo seeks to provide students with necessary information to make an informed decision before embarking on a study abroad experience. The Expo’s goals are to ensure that students are aware of the many study abroad programs in which they can participate, what financial resources are available to them, what factors to consider prior to their departure and eventual return, and what steps they need to take to get their plans underway. The Expo enables students to meet with the numerous Kent State Colleges, offices and departments, as well as service providers which can introduce them to the worthwhile study abroad programs that work best for their schedules, professional aspirations and budget, while also assisting them with critical preparations for any of their upcoming study abroad plans.
Education Abroad Parent Information Night

Parents and Family Members are one of the best support systems around! Just like you, they have questions about your experience abroad too. Invite them to join you at this after-hours information night and have all their questions answered. Hear from staff members from the College of Arts and Sciences, Office of Global Education, Student Financial Aid and Education Abroad Student Alumni who all work together to provide the best opportunities for our aspiring students. Light refreshments provided.
Jewish Studies Program - Study Abroad and Away Information Session

Join Professor Chaya Kessler to learn about life after the Holocaust in Poland or Jews of Distant Lands in Morocco! If you are hoping to stay state-side, there are also study away opportunities to participate in a 1-credit hour bus trip to Washington D.C. or a weekend away in Jewish New York. From history to culture, Jewish Studies has an opportunity for everyone. Students participating in these programs do not have to identify as Jewish, or be registered as Jewish Studies minors.

You will love it so much, you will be begging for the recipe to take with you on your semester abroad (and do not worry--we will give it to you at the end of the event)! This event is open only to Destination Florence participants. RSVP required; spots limited.
