Message From The Dean: Spring 2020

James C. Hannon

Greetings from the College of Education, Health and Human Services Dean’s Office! I hope you and your families are safe and healthy in these unprecedented times. It is hard to believe another academic year has come to a close, and what an academic year it has been. As our world changed abruptly this spring semester, our dedicated faculty and staff rose to the occasion in order to provide the robust educational experiences our students expect and deserve and doing so while social distancing and working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the same time, our students have demonstrated tremendous determination and resiliency, traits our younger generations are often criticized as lacking. This has not been the case with students in EHHS. We also stood in pride, in our living rooms, as our outstanding graduate and undergraduate students completed their journey across the virtual stage at the University Commencement on May 9th.

Things may have looked a little different this spring, but it has not changed the great work that has been taking place in EHHS. We are proud of the fact that we have once again been ranked in the U.S. News and World Report's 2021 Top 100 Best Graduate Education programs, one of only three in the state of Ohio. In response to COVID-19 several of our outstanding programs created resource guides with tips for staying engaged and taking care of yourself. Although we could not commemorate the memory of May 4th as planned, researchers in EHHS contributed to a virtual reality experience that immerses users through the events of May 4th, 1970. These are just a few examples of what you will find in this newsletter and we have certainly accomplished even more. As dean, I could not be prouder of this college and our people!

I wish you all the very best.  Thank you for your continued support of the College of Education, Health and Human Services.

Sincerely,

James C. Hannon, Ph.D.
