We are proud to share that three Kent State employees were recently recognized in AmMore Consulting's 100+ Latinos Cleveland Must Know for 2025. Join us in celebrating Eric Arellano, HR business partner, Jumarie Figueroa, coordinator II for Employee Benefits, and Sara Morato Querejazu, associate director for Education Abroad. This recognition is a celebration of the contributions of Latinos, Hispanics, Latine and Latinx leaders across our region and beyond. 

Join the Environmental Science and Design Research Institute for a forum discussion with four experts on Oct. 21. In the presentations and conversation, we’ll be exploring varying work from nature, including foraging wild edibles, demonstrating scientific data through art and natural fibers for ethical fashion. The conference is free to attend, but advance registration is required.

Each November, Kent State joins other schools across the nation to honor and celebrate first-generation students, alumni, staff, faculty and advocates for their accomplishments and support of the first-generation student journey. This year’s I AM FIRST Week of Celebration is Nov. 3-7, 2025. Please save the dates and plan to attend programs celebrating those who are or who will be the first in their family to earn a bachelor’s degree. At the end of the week, please join us for I AM FIRST Awards Celebration on Friday, Nov. 7 from 1-3 p.m. in the KIVA. 

The Offices of Research Development and Corporate Engagement and the Office of Foundation Relations will co-host a webinar on Friday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. Mark van ‘t Hooft, director for Research Development, David Meyers, executive director for Corporate Engagement, and Renee Sherick, senior foundation and corporate relations officer, will provide guidance on developing strategies to secure external funding from non-federal sources, including professional associations, corporate partners, and private foundations.  

Staff Council represents the interest of all classified and unclassified staff across all campuses.
