Welcome to the Office of International Programs and Education Abroad in the College of Sciences and Humanities!

We believe that studying abroad is more than simply visiting a new place, it is a personally impactful experience that can broaden perspectives, build confidence, foster intercultural understanding, and inspire lifelong growth.

An international experience can also give our students a meaningful advantage as they prepare for their futures. The experiences and global perspectives gained through studying abroad help our students stand out as they pursue their future in graduate school, careers, and other opportunities in an increasingly interconnected world.

At CSH we are committed to making global learning accessible to all students. We believe that studying abroad should be an opportunity available to anyone who wants to pursue it. Our office is dedicated to helping students explore our programs, navigate the process, and identify resources that can make an education abroad experience possible.

Upcoming 2027 Programs

Field Course to South Africa Savannas

Join Dr. Ward on this unique international experience and study the diverse ecosystems and nature of South Africa. You will have the opportunity to study a major biome in South Africa: the savanna.

Please note that you must have completed a basic biology course in Ecology, Entomology, Vertebrate Zoology, Herpetology, Floristics, or other similar fields to be eligible to participate.

Final program costs will depend on total number of students enrolled in the program. Students can apply for education abroad scholarships on ScholarshipUniverse and may be able to use financial aid towards billable program costs.

Constitutional Law in the United Kingdom

This course explores one of the most influential legal systems in the world and its relationship to the global legal order within the context of American and European politics. It focuses on London and the United Kingdom’s relationship to the common law system, including an examination of its relatively new UK Supreme Court, the Royal Courts of Justice, the Inns of Court and their political significance in the context of the English and U.S. court systems in the context of the English and U.S. court systems.

Exploring Iceland: Landscape, Culture, and Sustainability

Students will travel to the southern coast of Iceland to study and experience Iceland’s unique geological landscapes, innovative approaches to sustainability, and rich culture.

Chemistry Major Interns in Japan as a Kent State Freeman Fellow

Ashley Angell is a second year Chemistry major at Kent State, who recently interned abroad in Tokyo, Japan.

Ashley had been to Japan once before to drop her brother off for his own study abroad trip. She enjoyed her time so much that it inspired her to look for a study abroad program in Japan for herself.

From Kent to London

Meredith Blair’s passion for politics started at a young age, but it was her time at Kent State University and abroad that strengthened her commitment and showed her a path forward.

Blair graduated from Kent State in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a minor in advertising. She is now pursuing a Master of Science in political science focusing on conflict studies and comparative politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), planning to graduate in December 2025.

Kent State Computer Science Student Studies Abroad for a Year in Estonia

One of the study abroad programs offered at Kent State University for Computer Science majors is the University of Tartu, Estonia ISEP program. Mason Bair, a junior Computer Science major at Kent State, recently shared what his experience has been like studying in Estonia for an academic year.

Kent State Zoology Student Studies Abroad in Australia

What’s better than studying abroad once? Getting inspired by your travels and studying abroad twice!

Last summer, Kent State Zoology student Carter Henry participated in the Study Abroad Trip to the Galapagos, Ecuador program, and now he has just returned from his second education abroad program, Down Under: Ecology and Evolution in Australia.

Kent State Political Science Major Studies Abroad in Mexico City

Dae’onii Robinson is a second year Political Science student, with minors in Pre-Law and Paralegal Studies who recently spent spring break in Mexico City studying abroad with the Environmental Policy in Mexico City program.

The program is a joint research effort between Kent State and Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City. Students in the program learn about ways to reduce poverty and promote economic inclusion in Mexico, while also learning about ancient cultural traditions.
