  • What is your area of interest or research?
    Sustainable Facilities Engineering

  • What made you interested in pursuing this area?
I think that historically manufacturing and sustainability have fought against each other when really, they work well together! I was interested in sustainability from projects in high school and facilities work, which is how all needed utilities get to machinery like water, electricity, gas, etc.  from interning!

  • What sparked your interest in sustainability in both your professional and/or personal life?
My family has always been big, do it yourself people and my mother is extremely crafty, which meant being incredibly thrifty so we often reused or repurposed things to do parties, make coffee tables out of milk crates etc.! So, once I learned about sustainability it just fit well!

  • What are your favorite accomplishments or projects you have worked on so far?
I designed a Manufacturing energy Calculator which was designed to show how much money you would save long term if you switched to an eco-friendlier piece of manufacturing equipment which actually took me 864 hours of work! I worked on it for 9 months. 3 of those months being only research! It is by far the project I am most proud of.

  • What type of work, research, or projects are you working or looking forward to working on this year?
Working on the sustainability team! I just am excited for the new challenges!

  • What career or path do you see yourself pursuing after graduation?
Facilities Engineering with a focus on sustainability

  • What is one of your favorite spots on campus? And what makes it your favorite?
I have a tie actually, the Zen garden in the middle of smith hall which is amazingly calm and mostly empty. Also the small park behind Henderson hall sitting in a hammock back there is very peaceful.

Thank you Angel!
