Biography

Position:

I serve as the Assistant Director for the Upward Bound Classic Academy. I provide direction in the planning and management of the TRIO Upward Bound Classic program for college bound high school students in Warren, Barberton, and Akron.

Experience:

Before joining the Upward Bound at Kent State University, I worked as an Educational Specialist at the Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawai'i at Manoa. In addition, I had various teaching and administrative jobs on the Kent campus while pursuing my doctoral degree in Cultural Foundations of Education. I taught an undergraduate level course 'Education in a Democratic Society' and served as a Graduate Student Orientation Teaching Fellow in the Division of Graduate Studies.

Favorite place on the Kent campus:

My favorite place is the KSU library because I can find information easily, get invaluable services, see friendly faces, and enjoy Starbucks coffee.

Best advice to students:

To all students - ask many questions and never be afraid to overcome challenges. Everyone who works here at Kent State University is there for you, to help you succeed and become a respectable professional.
