"In our planning for the presidential search, trustees recognized the unique perspective and value that Professor Lovejoy would bring to our process," said Richard Marsh, Kent State trustee and chair of the Presidential Search Committee.  "Though he was unable to accept our invitation in July due to prior commitments, we are pleased that he can join now as our search has moved into high gear in recruitment."

Dr. Mark Seeman received a Distinguished Career Award at the annual meeting of the Midwest Archaeological Conference, Oct 24-27, Columbus, Ohio.  The DCA is awarded irregularly based on the recommendation of the organization's Board of Trustees.

Rick Feinberg, Professor of Anthropology, was in the Solomon Islands from June 19 to July 10, 2013 as an ethnographic consultant on a film dealing with environmental sustainability on the Polynesian island of Anuta.  It was part of a project entitled 1000 Days for the Planet, sponsored by the Sedna Foundation (a Canadian NGO) in collaboration with the Secretariat for the UN Convention on Biodiversity and the government of Quebec.

Reston, VA—The National Art Education Association has named Daniel Humphrey, of Bolivar, OH, to receive the 2014 New Professional Art Educator of the Year Award. This prestigious award, determined through a peer review of nominations, recognizes excellence and achievement by new art educators. The award will be presented at the NAEA National Convention in San Diego, California, March 29-31, 2014.

Isabel Farnsworth, associate professor of sculpture, has work appearing in the collaborative exhibit "Isabel Farnsworth + Hai-Chu Ying" at Heights Arts Collaborative, located at 2173 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. The show opens on Friday, September 5, with a reception the same day from 6 to 9 p.m. Prof. Farnsworth will also participate in an evening of artist talks and ekphrastic poetry held in the gallery on Thursday, September 25, at 7 p.m. The exhibit runs through October 18.
