Our counseling services are generally short-term and goal-oriented.
Short-term therapy has been found to be quite effective with college students, especially when problems are dealt with early. It is not unusual for significant change to occur in just a few sessions, even if the problem seems insurmountable.
Some difficult or long-standing problems may not be completely resolved in short-term treatment, but a course of focused therapy may provide a point of clarity enhancing a student's subsequent personal effort to change. In cases where long-term therapy seems best, the professional staff can assist the student with a referral to an off-campus resource.
