Counseling and Psychological Services Offered
Individual, Couples and Group Counseling
Our counseling services are generally short-term and goal-oriented.
Short-term therapy has been found to be quite effective with college students, especially when problems are dealt with early. It is not unusual for significant change to occur in just a few sessions, even if the problem seems insurmountable.
Some difficult or long-standing problems may not be completely resolved in short-term treatment, but a course of focused therapy may provide a point of clarity enhancing a student's subsequent personal effort to change. In cases where long-term therapy seems best, the professional staff can assist the student with a referral to an off-campus resource.
Crisis Intervention Counseling
Crisis intervention is available for more acute mental health concerns and when psychological emergencies arise.
Consultation services are available to faculty, staff, and students who need help in assisting students who have emotional and behavioral concerns.
Psychological testing is available to clarify issues and to facilitate the counseling process. We also offer more specialized evaluations for substance abuse and ADD/ADHD.
Workshops and Seminars
Psycho-educational presentations to student groups, faculty, and staff are available on a limited basis.
Various skill based groups are available each semester run by Counseling and Psychological Services staff. These groups are free of charge to students. For a list of current groups, click here.
All contact with staff is strictly confidential.
