Counseling and Psychological Services Offered

Your mental health and well-being are extremely important, and CAPS is here to support you. We recognize there is no “one size fits all” approach to supporting student mental health which is why we have developed a flexible care model that can be adapted to your individual needs.  You may know that individual counseling is one option, but not everyone wants or needs that, so we have created a variety of options for you to consider.

Check out the services described below and see what might be a good fit for you -- and if you’re unsure, schedule an appointment for a consultation and a CAPS clinician will work with you to create an individualized care plan.

SERVICES

INDIVIDUAL, COUPLES AND GROUP COUNSELING

INDIVIDUAL, COUPLES AND GROUP COUNSELING

Our counseling services are generally short-term and goal-oriented.

Short-term therapy has been found to be quite effective with college students, especially when problems are dealt with early. It is not unusual for significant change to occur in just a few sessions, even if the problem seems insurmountable.

Some difficult or long-standing problems may not be completely resolved in short-term treatment, but a course of focused therapy may provide a point of clarity enhancing a student's subsequent personal effort to change. In cases where long-term therapy seems best, the professional staff can assist the student with a referral to an off-campus resource.
